George Lucas's 1977 film, Star Wars, was one of the most technologically advanced films of its time. The film takes place in space, and tells the story of Luke Skywalker's journey to find himself. This film was a pop-culture phenomenon due to the fact that the first film of the Star Wars series was not the first to be released. In fact, the first Star Wars of the series was not released until sixteen years after the first film's release. Star Wars has made a combined gross-income of over 4.3 billion dollars, making it third to only the Harry Potter and James Bond series'. The six Star Wars films were nominated for a combined total of 22 Academy Awards, and received seven, along with three Special Achievement Awards for the film's use of new technologies such as alien and robot voices.
